Sydney McKinstry, BA

Research Coordinator
Sydney is a Research Coordinator in the SPIRIT Lab under Dr. Sarah Kopelovich. She graduated from the University of Michigan in 2020 with a BA in psychology and history. As an undergraduate, she completed an honors thesis on the history of psychiatric institutionalization. Since graduating, she has worked as a research assistant at the University of Michigan and the University of Tennessee on studies focused on cannabis use disorder, major depressive disorder in young adults, and preventative mHealth initiatives for adolescents.
Sydney is interested in developing and implementing culturally- and trauma-informed treatments for young adults with a focus on mood and psychotic disorders. She is also interested in the history of psychology, specifically as it relates to the connections between mental health and the current carceral system. She hopes to one day pursue a PhD.
