Kathy Ringwood is a research coordinator/manager in the SPIRIT Lab in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Washington. Kathy’s expertise is in designing and executing clinical trials. Her SPIRIT lab team studies ways to improve treatment outcomes for individuals who have psychosis and chronic medical illness. Kathy’s earlier work in the department examined treatment for depression in older adults. Prior to joining Psychiatry, she spent 15 years in UW Allergy & Infectious Diseases where clinical trials research focused on women’s health and sexually transmitted diseases. Kathy worked in community mental health and had a private practice in the Seattle area for more than 10 years prior to joining the university.
She graduated from the University of Washington with a Master’s Degree in Social Work with an emphasis on research and administration. Her undergraduate work includes dual degrees in Psychology and Women’s Studies from the University of Utah.
Kathy served on the board of the Clinical Social Work Society and the National Neurofibromatosis Foundation. Her interests away from work include family history, wildlife photography and wood turning.
